Growing Up in Christ 2010

Postby Phil » Sun, 14. February 2010, 23:11

This Topic has been added for anyone wishing to discuss/explore the bible study questionnaire from 12 January 2010 (see main church web site, bible studies page).

By way of a reminder, the 3 questions we were left to consider were:

What will be the outcome if you fulfil (personally and corporately) your God-given purpose in 2010?
What will your church look like by the end of 2010?
Will you now commit, from this moment on, to find and fulfil your purpose?

As I thought on the first two, I began to see that the 3rd one could be rephrased along these lines:

Do I want to grow as a Christian, learn more about my Lord Jesus, see my brothers and sisters grow and be encouraged, see God's Kingdom grow?

Do I want to see more souls saved, a bigger body in Ennis (and perhaps therefore at EEC); do I want to see God's will done in my church, which I think includes more devotion to prayer (individually AND corporately) and more outreach to the lost, the poor, the sick, the needy.

If I want these things, I should be prepared to commit to find and fulfil my God-given purpose because this ought to lead to the attainment of all these things.

Anybody else been thinking about this?

I would like to take some time to digest this, I have been feeling over the past couple of months that the Lord has a definite purpose both for myself and for the greater body of the church, and his timing! well there's no time like the present....

Glad to see a reply and sorry I didn't see it sooner Louis ... I thought I'd get an email alert but maybe I didn't turn it on??? Anyway, I have the right box checked this time (I hope!) and look forward to hearing more of your thoughts. Maybe if we get something going here, others will be inclined to join in (I'm fairly certain other Phil would if she could get over the perceived techie hurdle!)

Meantime, lets continue to pray for our own purposes to be revealed but that also our Lord would reveal the same to others.
